The Masham Sheep Fair took place on the weekend of 27th / 28th September 2025.
The following account is by Peter Sutcliffe:
“On Saturday morning, I arrived in Masham for the sheep fair, joining fellow Staple member Hugh Roberts to set up our banners in the Town Hall for the crafting competition.
The Staple sponsored prizes and I was asked to assist with judging, scheduled for Sunday.
Mark Cunliffe Lister guided me through the by now busy fair later in the morning, where crowds enjoyed the sheep judging and country goods stalls. The lively “Sheep Racing” was a highlight!
On Sunday afternoon, I helped judge spinning, dyeing, knitting, and crochet etc entries. The winner was an exquisitely detailed hand-knitted wool garment, showcasing remarkable skill.
It was a truly enjoyable Yorkshire weekend!”
