The Company decided in 2024 to extend the variety and number of events in their annual calendar to add to the three Feasts, the Garden Party and the Best Fleece Competition and lunch held at the Great Yorkshire Show.
One of the popular venues has been a Cathedral tour followed by lunch at a nearby restaurant. In 2024, the first year, Freemen and their guests visited York Minster with an hour’s guided tour. This was followed in 2025 with a visit and guided tour of Ripon Cathedral, which was founded in 672 AD by the building of a magnificent basilica, of which the only crypt remains intact and forms part of the tour.
It is planned to extend the programme which will be published on the website as well as through direct mailing to Freemen of the Company.
